It was a shame this film is only available in a cut form…
It was only in LA for a week or two with little to no fanfare. It was a beautiful fever dream…an accomplishment that will likely be appreciated years from now.
    Again, shame…

Lovely: Unlike many films about Artists, this one is not corny. Klimt was a fabulous Painter, on a par w/Bouguereau but is known by mainstream only for the gold-leaf, erotica work

Polock was a great film too.

I absolutely agree with you, that’s what I’ve always believed

And it really is a shame that Bouguereau is never credited enough

  11. Shrubbs sagt:

I had no idea this film even existed

  12. Mavarla sagt:

Bouguereau is under-rated or dismissed, but I think his work is absolutely lovely. His wife’s paintings were on the same level, some say, even better, but she was too busy raising his children to produce much of her own work

  13. Shrubbs sagt:

It breaks my heart to hear that

I’ve heard her work was also very similar in style

  14. Mavarla sagt:

Well, it’s understandable, especially for the times and still acceptable for today, after all, men weren’t constructed to carry infants in their bodies. I am one of those who think Madame Bouguereau was the better Painter. Yes, their style is similar, they met in art school, but there’s a certain determination/sense of ownership in her work (what little I’ve seen) which is so patently original that it seems to suggest he may have been working to impress her
